Operator Services

Calls made though an operator are neither automatic nor direct. These calls are made with the assistance of the UTS operator. For operator-assisted calls you can call the UTS Contact Center at telephone 9221 and ask the operator to connect you with a certain number overseas. Only Postpaid telephones can make a call via the operator.

How to make calls via the operator

There are two types of calls via the operator:

Call via the operator – general (anyone)

The person requesting the call wants to be connected to a certain telephone number overseas, irrespective of the person that answers the call.

Calls via the operator – person to person

The person requesting the call asks to speak to a specific person with determined telephone number abroad. Keep in mind that there is an extra charge for this service. In this case, the person requesting the call must give the telephone number and also the name of the person he wants to talk to. The call is only put through when the person in question is on the line.

Information regarding charges for making calls via operator

There is always the possibility for someone making a call via the operator to get information about the charges involved immediately at the end of the call. He must tell the operator in advance that he wants to be informed of the charges upon termination of his call.

It is also possible for the person placing a call via the operator to request a specification of his inter-island and long distance calls.
