What can you do with Chippie I- Messenger?

 If you have an existing account of MSN Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger or ICQ, and an active UTS Chippie subscription, you can Chat from anywhere. Chippie I-Messenger is based  on text messaging. You may register several accounts and log in using the one of your choice. It’s easy, safe and simple. Have fun and keep in touch!

Step 1: Register

Register on your Chippie, using your existing instant messenger account. To register at Chippie I-Messenger, send a text message with the command REG followed by the service + account id + account password to short code 3333. 

Example: REG MSN johnsmith@hotmail.com jmsl28

Keep in mind that you have to:
Register using the same Messenger account name and password you use to log in from a computer. Use small and capital letters as you do when using a computer.

The way to register in Chippie I-Messenger according to the service is:

Once registered you can log in at any time you want, there's no need to send your registration information again. If anytime you wish to correct/change your registration information, send the command REG to 3333 with all your updated information (service type + account id +account password)

Step 2: Login

 To log in to your account send the command LOG to the short code 3333. Once logged in you’ll be able to see and chat with your online contacts by using the following commands described in step 3.

Step 3: Start chatting

Once logged in send the command LIS to short code 3333. This command lets you see the list of your online contacts with an id number beside each one, as displayed in the example here below: 

Active: 26)gabriel_m 12)maryjane 6)lucy
Away: 7)johnpaul 15)ricky 20)sophie567 

To send a message to a contact of the list, you have to type the contact id number you want to chat with followed by the message you want to send to him/her. For example, if you want to chat with lucy, then you type: 

6 Hello Lucy how are you doing 

Send message to short code 3333.

Step 4: Keep having fun!

There are a lot of available commands at Chippie I-Messenger which you can use to add, remove, block or unblock contacts, change nickname, change connection status, create conferences, have several registered accounts at the same time, ask for help, etc. You may write the full command word or just the first three letters in small or capital letters. All the commands are sent as text messages to short code 3333.

How to get help

To ask for help on how to use Chippie I-Messenger send HEL to short code 3333 and you’ll get a complete list of commands. If you send the command HEL followed by any of the other commands to short code 3333, you’ll get a message on how to use that command.
